Cooper Lutkenhaus is once again proving himself to be one of the best middle distance runners in the entire country, and this time he’s doing it on one of the biggest stages for a track and field athlete.
The 16-year-old Northwest High School student took silver on Sunday in the 800-meter final at the 2025 USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Eugene, Oregon.
With his second-place finish, set a new 800-meter world record for runners under the age of 18. The young star made history just by qualifying for the final, becoming the first high school student to ever qualify for an 800-meter final at the national championships.
Lutkenhaus will now go on to represent Team USA at the World Championships in Tokyo.
