4. Learn calligraphy at the Roanoke Public Library
Feeling creative? The Roanoke Library is hosting a free beginner calligraphy class where you can learn the art of beautiful writing—no experience necessary. The event starts on Saturday, July 27 at 1 p.m.

5. Catch a tribute show at Roanoke Live
There are two high-energy tribute bands taking the stage at Roanoke Live. You can kick off your weekend early with a Journey tribute on Friday night (tickets $40-$100), or you can enjoy the soul and swagger of a tribute to country superstar Luke Combs on Saturday (tickets $30-$60). Both shows run from 8 to 9:30 p.m.
