Texas Motor Speedway announced it raised $20,741 during its Drive-In Movie Night fundraiser benefiting victims of the devastating Texas Hill Country floods.
The event, hosted by Speedway Children’s Charities–Texas, drew families and film lovers to the speedway’s infield Friday night for a special screening of How to Train Your Dragon on Big Hoss, the largest LED screen in any North American sports facility. Admission was a $20 minimum donation per carload, with 100% of proceeds going to flood recovery efforts.
“This benefit drive-in movie night will be more than just a night out – it is a way for our community to come together with purpose” said SCC-Texas Executive Director Marissa Chaney ahead of the event. “Thanks to our partners and volunteers, every dollar raised will go directly to flood relief efforts.”
Proceeds will be donated to the Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country, which is leading recovery efforts after flash floods over the Fourth of July weekend killed more than 130 people.
The event was made possible through partnerships with Universal Pictures, which donated screening rights and fees; MAP360 Collective; and GoVision, helping ensure all funds go directly to aid efforts.
